Brasília – Beginning this Wednesday (7th), business travellers, artists or athletes from foreign countries on trips to Brazil do not require tourist or temporary visas. The rule has been issued on the Federal Official Gazette and applies to foreigners from countries that treat Brazilians likewise. In the past, visas were not required from foreigners from countries which sustain international agreements with Brazil.
The rule also provides that tourist visa issuance will take place eletronically, and that Ministry of External Relations may issue further modifications to simplify procedures for reciprocity or other reasons deemed appropriate, as well as rules regulating issuance of visas physically separated from the applicant’s passport.
