The discovery was made during the drilling of a well in the area known as Grana Padano, 58 kilometres from the city of Vitória and 64 kilometres from the Field of Golfinho, at a depth of 1,208 metres.
Petrobras operates the consortium which explores the area, with a 40% stake. The partner companies are IBV Brasil (30%) and Anadarko (30%). The state-owned company did not disclose an estimate of the reserve’s size.
