Rio de Janeiro – Petrobras has announced one more good quality oil discovery in deep waters in the pre-salt layer in Santos Basin. The area is located 194 kilometres off the coast of São Paulo and west of the main discoveries in the pre-salt layer. The announcement was made on Monday night (25), through a statement.
The oil reserves are confirmed to be 31o API (density measurement) as proven with the drilling of the first well of block BM-S-50, located in an area on the exploration frontier.
The reserves are at 6,150 metros, right below the underground layer of salt. The water depth at the site of the discovery is 1,871 metres. Petrobras is the operator of the consortium that explores the bloc, with a 60% share. The company’s partners are BG E&P Brasil (20%) and Repsol Sinopec Brasil (20%) in operation of the block.
