São Paulo – This Friday (31st), Petrobras announced that its oil output in April was up 4.2% from March. According to the company, 1.924 million barrels were produced per day. Total production, including oil and natural gas, amounted to 2.316 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, up 3% from March.
According to the company, output increased because three Campos Basin rigs that had been out of service in March resumed production in April. Output also increased at the Cidade de Itajaí rig, in the Santos Basin.
In a press statement, Petrobras reported that production in the pre-salt layer has also helped drive up output. In April, the company extracted an average of 293,800 barrels per day, and maximum daily production was 311,000 barrels of oil on April 17th.
Gas production was down 1.2 million cubic metres in April from March due to maintenance at Natural Gas Production Unit Vandemir Ferreira, in the state of Bahia. The company produced a total 62.424 million cubic metres of natural gas last month. In foreign countries, Petrobras produced 236.323 barrels of oil equivalent per day, down 1.3% from March due to decreased demand for Bolivian gas.
