Brasília – the Brazilian minister of the Special Secretariat for Ports, Antonio Henrique da Silveira, has said this Monday (17th) that he hopes the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU, in the Portuguese acronym) will approve studies for tenders at ports in Santos and Pará by the end of the current month. He said he will pay a visit to the TCU tomorrow to speak with the ministers, call for “swiftness and serenity” on voting the studies, which have been resubmitted by the government to the TCU following implementation of the modifications requested by the latter.
"The technical issues have been settled and the inquiries have all been responded to. Now, they will be submitted to analysis by the ministers,” said Silveira, during the inauguration of new ministers. According to him, once the TCU has cleared the studies, the call for tender may be issued in one week.
In December last year, the TCU set forth 19 conditions for the government to issue the call for tenders of ports in Santos (state of São Paulo), Belém and Santarém (Pará), Vila do Conde (Pará), Outeiro (Pará) and Miramar (Pará). The ministers ruled the studies submitted by the government insufficient, and called on further technical information on the projects. The federal government requested that some of the conditions imposed by the court be reviewed before authorizing a call for tender.
