Rio de Janeiro – Brazil’s production of natural gas broke a new record in January this year when reaching 96.6 million cubic meters per day. The previous record was registered in December of last year, with a production of 95.1 million cubic meters per day.
The data were released this Tuesday (3rd) by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP, in the Portuguese acronym). Total oil and natural gas production in domestic fields closed January at 3.077 million barrels of oil equivalent. From these, oil was responsible by 469 million daily barrels.
According to the ANP, natural gas production had, in January 2015, a growth of 20.2% in comparison to January 2014, and an increase of 1.5% in comparison to December. Oil production increased 20.3% over the same month of 2014, but showed a decline of 1.1% in comparison to December.
ANP stated that 92.2% of oil and natural gas production came from fields operated by Petrobras, and 93.4% of oil production and 75.6% of natural gas production came from offshore fields.
