São Paulo –The Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff, the mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad, and the minister of Cities, Aguinaldo Ribeiro, have announced this Tuesday (31st) that the city of São Paulo will receive R$ 8 billion from the federal government for infrastructure works.
The project provides that R$ 3.148 billion will be spent on building 99 kilometres’ of bus-only lanes, R$ 2.2 billion will go to restoration of water sources, R$ 1.4 billion will be allocated to drainage works, and R$ 1.354 billion will be invested on building housing via the “Minha Casa, Minha Vida” (My House, My Life) program, which provides financing of real estate at low interest rates to families with incomes of up to R$ 5,000 (US$ 2,198) per month.
