São Paulo – Executive Sheila Al-Rowaily, who worked as a financier for the oil company Saudi Aramco, became the first woman to join the board of directors of the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia (SAMA). Information was released on the Arab News website based on a SAMA statement mentioning a royal decree.
Al-Rowaily is CEO of Wisayah Investment, where she has been since 2019, and a board member of Saudi Aramco Power and Hassana Investment. At Saudi Aramco, she led innovative projects, including establishing the investment company Wisayah, which is focused on pension and other long-term funds.
The executive joined Saudi Aramco as a money market trader and worked as a financial analyst at the company. Her career includes leading portfolio management and directing the investment management department. She also worked as treasurer of the Saudi oil company in the United States.
Al-Rowaily holds a bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture from King Faisal University and an MBA in Finance from the American University of Beirut. She was selected among the 25 most influential women in the energy sector in 2021 in the Hart Energy ranking, highlighting women in the oil and gas sector.
