São Paulo – Exports of shoe parts grew by 14.49% in May compared with the same month of 2010, to reach US$ 101 million, according to figures supplied by the Brazilian Association of Shoe and Leather Components Industries (Assintecal).
From January to May, there was an increase of 11.07%, to reach US$ 454 million. Products whose exports grew the most in the first five months of 2011, compared with the same period of last year, were insoles, at 53%, chemical products for shoes, at 31%, and synthetic products, at 30%.
The industry exported to a total of 153 countries in January. From January to April this year, the total reached 144 countries, according to the Assintecal.
