Saudi Food and Drug Authority announced on February 10 a temporary suspension of export authorizations for units in Dois Vizinhos and Francisco Beltrão which account for a combined 20% of all poultry supplied from Brazil to the Arab country.
The Arab countries stood out among the Brazilian products’ buyers, purchasing 121,700 60-kg bags of the product in January.
Overall Brazilian poultry exports were up 15%. The Arabs, though, imported 3.5% less year-on-year.
The month saw 17,123 tonnes shipped from Brazil. Revenue was down 27% year-on-year.
Production of the fruit could reach 330 thousand tonnes in 2020, said the country’s minister of Agriculture, Samir Taïe.
The country was among the markets that grew over 20% last year. Exports to the Arab world grew by 5%. Cecafé will participate for the first time in Gulfood in Dubai.
Trade balance deficit stood at USD 6.9 billion in 2019, a result of exports at USD 15.5 billion and imports of USD 22.5 billion.
Abicalçados reported a 0.9% decline in revenue and a 0.9% increase in volume shipped year on year. UAE were the 14th largest market of the year.
Arab country purchased 71,400 tonnes last year. Spearheaded by China, exports hit record levels in both volume and revenue.
