Tunis – Tunisia exported 49,000 tonnes of fruit in 2019, up 36% from 2018. Exports yielded DT 110.8 million (USD 39.8 million), up 27% year-on-year, TAP news agency reported.
Libya was the leading destination, followed by Italy. Sales for Russia and Germany recorded a growth but declined to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. The French market increased the quantities imports but decreased in revenue.
TAP stressed that Tunisian fruits conquered new markets in 2019, such as Poland and Ivory Coast. Products exported by the country include watermelons, pomegranates, peaches, apricots, plums and nectarines.
Revenues do not include date exports, which are calculated separately.
