Brasília – The Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus in the first week of February (from the 1st to the 8th), with a difference of US$ 471 million between exports and imports. Sales abroad totalled US$ 2.74 billion and purchases reached US$ 2.26 billion.
Year-to-date, however, the trade balance result remains negative, despite the positive result for the first week of February. Up to last Friday (6), the result was US$ 47 million negative, influenced by the result for last month, when there was a US$ 518 million deficit.
In January, for the first time in eight years, Brazilian foreign trade ended the month resulting in a deficit.
