Ramadan this year started in May 5 and ends this Tuesday (4). During this month of the Islamic calendar, the Muslims fast from sunrise to sundown, but it is a tradition to hold communal evening meals with family and friends, as well as donating food for those in need.
Therefore, the demand for food in Muslim countries usually increases during the months leading to Ramadan to create stock and avoid shortages and price rises.
