Brasília – The Brazilian balance of trade showed a US$ 3.227 billion surplus in August. The figure resulted from US$ 22.382 billion in exports and US$ 19.155 billion in imports, according to figures released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade this Monday (3rd).
The surplus was the year’s highest, up 12.2% from the preceding month (July), but was down 17.1% from August of last year.
Year-to-date as of late August, the Brazilian trade surplus was US$ 13.172 billion, down 34% from the same period in 2011.
