São Paulo – Brazil posted a USD 769 million trade surplus in the first week of December, the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade reported this Tuesday (8). Exports reached USD 3.040 billion, with imports at USD 2.271 billion.
Year-to-date through last week, exports fetched USD 177.392 billion with imports at USD 163.182 billion, another trade surplus at USD 14.210 billion.
In the week from November 30 to December 4, average daily exports dropped 4.4% from the comparable week of last year to USD 760.1 million. Exports dropped for semi-finished goods (-13.7%) and basic goods (-9.6%) and went up for finished goods (5.8%). Imports averaged USD 567.9 million a day, down 27.3% from a year ago.
