Brasília – The Brazilian balance of trade ran a surplus (exports minus imports) of US$ 328 million in the third week of April. Exports totalled US$ 2.756 billion and imports, US$ 2.428 billion. The figures were disclosed today (20) by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
Thus far in April, the trade surplus is US$ 1.665 billion, as a result of US$ 7.001 billion in exports and US$ 5.336 billion in imports.
From January until the third week of April 2009, the accumulated trade surplus is US$ 4.677 billion, as against US$ 4.182 billion recorded during the same period of last year. Exports totalled US$ 38.178 billion and imports, US$ 33.501 billion.
The trade surplus estimate by financial market analysts for the trade surplus this year is US$ 16 billion.
