Tunis – Revenue from foreign sales of Tunisian olive oil climbed 180% during the export season lasting from November 1st, 2017 to April 30th, 2018, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) quoted the its Ministry of Agriculture as reporting this Thursday (10).
Exports grossed TND 1.356 billion (USD 537 million), up from TND 484 million (USD 192 million) the prior seasons. Average was up 12%.
Bottled olive oil sales amounted to 8,967 tons, up 20%, with revenue going up 37%.
The leading destinations for Tunisian bottled olive oil were France and Canada, followed by the United States, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Brazil, New Zealand, Switzerland, Oman, Japan, Denmark and Kuwait. Brazil accounted for 7% of bottled olive oil exports from Tunisia.
Bulk olive oil exports came out to 125,000 tons, up 172%, with revenue going up 210%. The premier destinations were Spain, Italy, the United States, France, Morocco and the Seychelles.
