São Paulo – During his trip to São Paulo this week, the Tunisian Ghazi Karray seized the opportunity to visit the 10th International Auto Parts, Equipment and Services Fair(Automec), held at Anhembi, and seek new deals.
For a year now, Karray has been buying parts made in Brazil and importing them to Tunisia, where he resells them. His leading supplier here is Paraná-state based company Gauss, which manufactures rectifiers, ignition modules, fuel pumps and lamps for cars, trucks, buses and agricultural machinery. In his first visit to Brazil , Karray enjoyed the quality and variety of parts made in the country.
After going to the fair, Karray visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and told of his experience doing business with Brazil. "I met Gauss last year at a fair in Frankfurt, Germany. After that I started buying products from Brazil. One thing I admire about Brazilians is their negotiation skills. It is easier to negotiate with them than with the Chinese. The Brazilians go out of their way to adapt to our needs," he said.
Like other Arab businessmen visiting Automec, Karray complained about the products’ prices. He imports approximately US$ 1.5 million per year, at an average of five orders each month. "The pricing is not good and it takes negotiation to reach some targets. However, Chinese products, which are said to be cheap, also have higher prices when they have quality," he ponders.
Karray came to Brazil by invitation of Gauss and has promised to return. "I have enjoyed the products and the Brazilians. They are easy to deal with, open to dialogue," he asserted.
