São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates issued 532,000 business licenses from January to August of this year, a 9% growth over 2017’s total numbers.
The information was published this Wednesday (05) by the Arab country’s official news outlet, the Emirates News Agency (WAM), based on data relayed by the Ministry of Economy.
According to WAM, the data shows that business is gaining pace in many UAE economy sectors, despite the global slowdown.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi accounted for 85%, or 453,000, of the licenses issued by the UAE. Dubai had the top spot in licenses issued with 249,000. Both are the most well-known emirates of the country.
The World Bank’s report Ease of Doing Business, from last year, placed the United Arab Emirates at the 21st position. The country was the top Arab country in the report for the fifth consecutive time. From the licenses issued from January to August, 2,141 were requested by foreign companies.
