São Paulo — Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock announced on Tuesday (13) that the United Arab Emirates has opened its market to Brazilian fish products. Exports of both wild-caught and farmed fish are now authorized.
From January to September this year, Brazil exported USD 184,000 worth of fish and seafood to the UAE, down 90.4% from the same period in 2025. Crustaceans accounted for USD 120,000 and frozen fish, excluding fillets, for USD 60,000, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services compiled by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).
The opening of the UAE market to Brazilian fish products brought the total number of markets opened under the current administration to 700 since 2023. At an event at the Ministry of Agriculture’s headquarters in Brasília, Agriculture Minister André de Paula said the milestone reflects the importance of food production to Brazil.
At the event, Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin said market openings benefit society by making products more competitive and improving quality. Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to defend Brazil’s national interests and act as a partner to all countries.
