São Paulo – Automobile manufacturing dropped by 15.5% in April compared with March. A total of 260,285 new units were made last month, as against 308,494 in March. In comparison with April 2011, production declined by 7.5%. From January to April this year, compared with the same period in 2010, the output dropped by 10.1%. The figures were announced this Monday (7th) by the National Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea).
According to Anfavea, 257,885 units were sold in April, as against 300,574 units in March, a 14.2% decline. April-on-April sales dropped by 10.8%, and from January to April this year compared with the same period of last year there was a 3.4% decline.
Exports reached 48,692 units, 15.3% more than in March. Automobile exports declined by 0.5% in April this year compared with April last year. From January to April, auto exports were down 4.9% compared with the same period of 2011.
