São Paulo – Sales of vehicles, commercial light vehicles (like vans) and lorries grew 20.8% in March this year as against February, shows a study disclosed on Thursday (4) by the National Association of Vehicle Producers (Anfavea). A total of 283,900 vehicles were licensed in Brazil last month, as against 235,100 in February. In comparison with March last year, when trade totalled 300,600 vehicles, however, there was a 5.5% drop.
In the first quarter of last year, vehicle sales recorded growth of 1.5% in comparison with the same period in 2012. From January to March this year, 830,500 units were licensed, against 818,400 sold in the first three months of last year.
Vehicle production also grew, 39.2%. Production was 89,800 units higher in March than in February, when production had totalled 229,300. In comparison with March last year, the growth was smaller, 3.4%. In the same period in 2012, production reached 308,500 vehicles.
