São Paulo – The minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), Kátia Abreu, visited the Abu Dhabi plant of the Brazilian company BRF, in the United Arab Emirates, this Wednesday (11th), according to information released by the ministry. The visited marked the first anniversary of operations of the plant in the emirate. Abreu also visited Saudi Arabia, where she signed an agreement that ended the country’s embargo to Brazilian beef, and she will also visit India and China, with the goal of opening markets to Brazilian agribusiness.
The BRF plant has the capacity to process 70,000 tons of food per year and will expand it further, to 100,000 tons until 2016. “These are the type of initiatives that allowed us to reach the excellence that brought us to the top spot in the most demanding markets”, said the minister during the ceremony, which was attended by global executives of BRF and business owners from the United Arab Emirates. She said that Mapa works to open new markets and overcome barriers that still block the access to Brazilian products, prioritizing the support of agriculture to ensure quality, taste and health safety of food products.
