Brasília – The 2014/2015 crop in Brazil was 8.2% larger than the preceding one: producers harvested 209.5 million tons, up 15.9 million from 193.6 million tons in 2013/2014. The information was released this Friday (11th) by the National Supply Company (Conab).
Higher output in the second maize crop in the Southeast, Midwest and in the state of Paraná was one of the drivers of growth. Maize output reached 54.5 million tons, a 12.6% increase. Soy production also showed significant growth at 11.8%, to 96.2 million tons.
Conab has reported 143 million hectares of planted area, 1.7% more than in 2013/14. Acreage was up 6.4% for soy and 4.1% for maize.
