Brasília – Delegates from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (Ibrd), better known as the World Bank, have signed an agreement this Friday (1st) with Brazil’s National Rural Apprenticeship Service (Senar, in the Portuguese acronym), allocating US$ 10.6 million to the project ABC Cerrado (ABC Savannah), developed in partnership with the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
The goal of ABC Cerrado is to spread sustainable agricultural practices in a bid to cut down greenhouse gas emissions. A total of 12,000 rural properties will receive training, 1,200 of which are located in the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, Tocantins and Mato Grosso do Sul. They will also get technical assistance, drawing on the funds available, and will commit to implementing the technologies they learn. These properties will become subjects of study and displays of technology.
