São Paulo – Air Algérie and Airbus signed on Tuesday (19), during the Dubai Airshow, in the United Arab Emirates, a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of three A330-200 aircraft by the North African operator. According to a press statement disclosed by Airbus, the model will be used on long-haul flights.
According to the CEO at Air Algérie, Boultif Mohamed Salah, the jet is essential to the route expansion strategy the company is adopting. Apart from the three units forecasted in the memorandum of understanding, Air Algérie operates another five aircraft of the model.
The A330-200 may transport 253 passengers in three classes: coach, executive and first class. The autonomy of the aircraft is 13,400 kilometres. The list price of each aircraft is US$ 216.1 million, but the value of the deal was not disclosed by the companies. On Sunday, Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways, Flydubai and Lybian Wings had already announced the purchase of jets from the European aircraft maker.
