Brasília – The president of the Brazilian Exports and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), Roberto Jaguaribe, wants to improve the image of national agribusiness abroad, with an emphasis on sustainability.
According to him, Brazilian agriculture is “highly sustainable.” Jaguaribe noted that the commitments undertaken by Brazil to cut emissions are real, whereas other countries have only pledged to “increase at slower rates.”
Jaguaribe said the focus must be Europe. He believes that if the image in that continent improves, trust in Brazilian products from other trade partners will also increase.
He also said Brazil is still a “relatively small” country when it comes to foreign trade. It ranks 25th, despite being a “very big” economy. He said companies must be encouraged to export.
