São Paulo – January to October saw 4,252 bicycles exported from Brazil, down 5.4% from the comparable period in 2015, the Brazilian Motorcycle, Moped and Bicycle Manufacturers Association (Abraciclo) reported this Friday (18). The bulk of sales went to Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay.
Conversely, 114,987 bicycles were imported to Brazil, a 46% drop over last year. The leading suppliers were China, Taiwan, Portugal and Cambodia.
Total bicycle production in Brazil was 522,933 units, down 12.8% from January to October.
In October alone, 72,085 bikes were made, up 13.6% from September, but down 3% from October of last year. Abraciclo said the output hike is due to the nearing year-end holidays and summer season.
