São Paulo – Brazilian sisal production reached 66,200 tons last year, down 5% from the previous year, according to material released this Wednesday (10) by the National Supply Company (Conab). Slowing exports were offset by exchange rate fluctuation, driving foreign sales revenues up 7% to USD 124 million.
The country produced 91,100 tons of sisal last year, down 4.7% from 2014, but prices went up 30%, improving producer income. Average annual prices paid climbed form BRL 2.37 per kg in 2014 to BRL 3.08 in 2015.
