São Paulo – The president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Salim Taufic Schahin, proposed that the next annual meeting between the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and foreign chambers be held in Brazil. The proposal was made to the Union’s president, Adnan Kassar, during its 60th anniversary celebration last week in Beirut, Lebanon.
The suggestion will be analysed. The idea is for the meeting to take place in October or November, according to the Arab Brazilian Chamber CEO, Michel Alaby, who attended the 60-year celebration alongside Schahin, the Chamber’s International Relations vice president Helmi Nasr, and director Mustafa Abdouni.
According to Alaby, the event in Beirut was attended by roughly 500 people, including representatives of virtually all Arab chambers of commerce, both based in Arab countries and otherwise.
Also in attendance were Lebanon’s president, Michel Sleiman, prime-minister Najib Mikat and Parliament president Nabih Berri.
