São Paulo – Brazil exported 22.3 million bags of coffee year-to-date through September 2013. The volume shipped is up 14% from 19.6 million bags in the same period last year. However, according to figures released this Monday (7th) by the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (CeCafé), revenues stood at US$ 3.8 billion, down 15% from January to September 2012. The reason is lower product prices.
The average price per bag year-to-date through September this year was US$ 172.84 per bag, down 2%% from US$ 231.96 year-to-date through September 2012. Still, the CEO of CeCafé, Guilherme Braga, said in a press release that by the end of 2013, export revenues should reach US$ 5.2 billion. According to Braga, the country is expected to export from 30 million to 31 million bags this year, up 9.5% from 2012.
