Rio de Janeiro – Brazil should see a 30.4% increase in its cereal, legume and oilseed crops in 2017. As per the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production from August, made public this Tuesday (12) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), 240.9 million will have been harvested by the end of this year.
The estimate is down 0.5% or 1.2 million tons from the one from July. The soy crop is seen exceeding last year’s by 19.6% to a record 115 million tons. Maize output should be up 54.7% to 98.4 million tons, another all-time high. Brazil’s rice crop is poised for a 16.2% increase.
