Rio de Janeiro – The Family Expectation Index (IEF), which measures the perceptive of Brazilians regarding the country’s economy dropped from 68.5 points in June to 68.2 points in July. The figure was disclosed on Friday (17) by the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea).
In the research, indices above 60 points show optimism in the Brazilian population and those below show pessimism. To the Ipea president, Vanessa Petrelli Corrêa, the reduction from one month to the other was small and does not worsen the population’s evaluation.
“The graphs show that, in recent months [since March], the rate has oscillated at around 68 points,” she pointed out. In January this year, the index reached 69 points, the highest level in the series since 2011.
The IEF is elaborated based on interviews with 3,800 residents in over 200 cities in Brazil.
