São Paulo – Brazil’s National Association of Private Hospitals (Anahp, in the Portuguese acronym) is attending the World Innovation Summit for Health (Wish), set to take place in Doha, Qatar on February 17th and 18th. Participants in the event will include healthcare researchers and professionals, government officials and industry delegates who will discuss challenges and outline innovative solutions.
For its part, Anahp comprises 69 hospitals from 14 Brazilian states and the Federal District, which offer 14,700 beds and post R$ 17.3 billion (US$ 6 billion) in revenues. In its first stint at the Wish, Anahp will be represented by the chairman of its Board of Management, Francisco Balestrin.
The event will feature forums and lectures on diabetes prevention and treatment, mother and infant health, dementia, the development of accessible means to cancer treatment, universal health coverage, improvement of information conveyance to the lay public, mental health and well-being of children, and other subjects.
The Anahp has said Brazil “has a lot to contribute”, what with its back experience and progress made in healthcare. “Sharing our success with global industry delegates is a valuable tool for encouraging the adaptation of new ideas, spreading technological innovation, and addressing existing challenges in healthcare,” the association said.
The event is sponsored by Qatar Foundation, a non-profit organization of the Qatari government whose goal is to foster education and konwledge. The first edition of Wish was held in 2013 and featured over 1,000 participants.
