The community of Lebanese immigrants and descendants in Brazil is even greater than the population of Lebanon. With so many people, stories to be told are not lacking. One example is the Massud family, which arrived in the country at the end of the 19th century and whose members spread into various different activities, such as trade, politics and medicine, or the Nabhan family, who immigrated even more recently, in 1979.

The delegation will be lead by the chairman of the Al Ahram group, Ibrahim Nafie, who edits the oldest and most important newspaper in the Arab country. They will also visit Venezuela, Argentina, Chile and Mexico.

The exhibit will take place in parallel to the summit for South American and Arab heads of state, in May. A group of 22 photographers from 10 countries registered images showing the Arab influence in the traditions, ways and culture in South America. The exhibit will be entitled AMRIK, in reference to the way the Arabs pronounced the word America during the immigration period.
