He believes the power transition in Palestine will be equilibrated and carried out according to the principles of self-determination of the people.

According to official announcement released by the Itamaraty, the Brazilian foreign office, "president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sympathises with the mourning of the Palestinian people." According to the text, the Brazilian government reassures their support to the creation of a "free and sovereign" Palestinian state.
