São Paulo – Coffee exports from Brazil to Arab countries grew 26% from January to March this year over the same period last year. In the first three months of 2013, shipped volume was 328,100 60-kilo bags and in the same months this year, a total of 414,400 bags were shipped to the region, according to information released by the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafé).
The Arab nations’ share in total coffee exports from Brazil was 4% in the first three months last year and it moved on to 5% in the same period in 2014. Revenue from sales, however, dropped in the same comparison, from US$ 55 million to US$ 50 million. Individually, none of the Arab countries features among the top 10 Brazilian coffee buyers.
Brazilian coffee exports, as a whole, grew 13.92% in the first three months this year over the same months in 2013, from 7.3 million bags to 8.3 million bags. The biggest buyer was the United States, followed by Germany and Italy.
