São Paulo – The Argentine Impsa confirmed last week, the intention of investing R$ 87.5 million (US$ 42.2 million) in a wind turbine farm in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The announcement was made during the Wind Energy Panorama Seminar in Rio Grande do Sul, and the information was disclosed on the site of the state government.
According to the company’s executive vice president, José Luis Menghini, the plant should create some 350 direct jobs, but the side of the enterprise has not yet been defined. Menghini said that logistics advantages were decisive for the decision of producing 220 wind turbines a year in the state. The devices transform wing energy into electricity.
Rio Grande do Sul currently answers to 10% of wing energy generation in Brazil, according to figures disclosed at the seminar. By 2015, R$ 4.8 billion will be invested in generation of this kind of clean energy in the state.
