São Paulo – Investments by the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES, in the Portuguese acronym) declined 20% from January to May of this year in comparison to the same period of last year. According to information released by the institution this Friday (19th), BNDES disbursed R$ 54.8 billion (US$ 17.7 billion) in the first five months of the year.
Infrastructure was the sector that received the most funds: R$ 20.4 billion (US$ 6.62 billion), or 37.2%. Industry received R$ 16.3 billion (US$ 5.29 billion), or 30%. According to BNDES, within the infrastructure sector, electricity and urban mobility had an increase of investments.
