Brasília – The economic activity of Brazil recorded growth of 0.75% in June in comparison with May this year. That may be viewed in the Economic Activity Index of the Central Bank (IBC-Br), unseasoned (adjusted for the period), considered the most adequate method by economists for this kind of comparison.
The growth in June is the highest since March 2011, when there was expansion of 1.47%. As against June last year, unadjusted, there was growth of 0.99%. Despite the positive result, the figures show that the rhythm of expansion of economic activity was greater in the second quarter of this year, reaching 0.38%, as against the period from January to March this year.
On comparing the first quarter of the year with the fourth quarter of last year, the result had reached 0.63%. The comparison between the second quarters of this year and last year, in turn, results in growth of 0.68%, according to the figures, unadjusted.
The IBC-Br is a form of evaluating and anticipating the activity of the Brazilian economy. The index incorporates information about the level of activity of three sectors of the economy: industry, trade and services and agriculture.
