São Paulo – The economist Eduardo Gianetti da Fonseca will deliver a lecture this month at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. He will discuss the prospects for the Brazilian economy on August 19th, Tuesday, at the organization’s offices on São Paulo’s Paulista Avenue. Attendance is free but slots are limited.
Gianetti is discussing the current scenario in Brazil from economic and ethical perspectives, the social consequences of economic transformation, and the opportunities and challenges facing the country. The event is part of the Arab Chamber Lecture Cycle.
The economist is also a social scientist and professor at the Brazilian Capital Markets Institute (Ibmec, in the Portuguese acronym). He is one of the best-known Brazilian economists of our time, and served as a professor at the University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom, in the 1980s, and at the School of Economics, Administration and Accountancy at the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP in the 1980s and 1990s.
Gianetti holds degrees in Economics and Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge. He has won several prizes, including Economist of the Year from the Order of Economists of São Paulo, in 2004, and two Jabutis Prizes from the Brazilian Book Chamber, for works published.
The lecture cycle in which the economist will take part has featured several leading names to speak at the Arab Chamber, including the economist and former Economic Policy secretary to the Ministry of Finance, José Roberto Mendonça de Barros, historian Arlene Clemesha, and attorney Flávio Pereira Lima, among others.
