São Paulo – A study conducted by technicians from the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy (SPA), linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), and by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) shows that the Brazilian grain crop will go from 196.5 million tons in the period 2015/2016 to 255.3 million tons in ten years. The increase will be of 58.8 million tons or 30%. The estimates show that meat production (beef, pork and poultry) will grow 7.8 million tons, or 29.8%.
According to the study, the growth will require investments in infrastructure, research and funding. Cotton lint, maize, milk, pork, poultry, soy beans, sugar, mango, papaya, grape and melon are the products estimated to register the largest growth between 2015/2016 to 2025/2026. The estimates aim to point possible growth directions in the sector and help those formulating public policies with the trends in agricultural products.
