Rio de Janeiro – Brazil should see a 21.8% grain crop increase this year, as per February estimates released this Thursday (9) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Cereals, legumes and oilseeds output is expected to amount to 224.2 million tons, 93% of which should be soy, maize and rice.
The 2017 output estimate from February was 1.3% higher than the crop growth forecast from January.
Harvested area should be up 5.7% from 2016 to 60.3 million hectares. This estimate has widened by 0.8% over the one from January.
