São Paulo – The index that measures Brazilian industrial output declined in June this year for the fourth consecutive month. In June from May, the index was down 1.4%. June-on-June, the index was down 6.9%, according to the Monthly Industrial Survey released this Friday (1st) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The survey shows that production decreased in the four main industry categories in June from May. The decline in durable consumer goods output was 24.9%. Capital goods production was down 9.7%; semi- and non-durable consumer goods were down 1.3% and intermediate goods were down 0.1%. According to IBGE figures disclosed by the news agency Agência Brasil, industrial output is down 2.6% year-to-date and down 0.6% in the twelve-month period ended June.
