São Paulo – The Brazilian industrial output dropped 0.9% in February over January of this year, according to a monthly survey conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released this Tuesday (7th). In comparison to the same period of last year, the decline stands at 9.1%.
In the press release, IBGE says that the industrial output increased 3.2% in Pará, 2.2% in Amazonas, 1.1% in Ceará, 1.6% in Rio Grande do Sul, 0.3% in São Paulo, 2.4% in Paraná, 3.2% in Goiás and 0.2% in Santa Catarina. On the other hand, the industrial output declined 7.1% in Rio de Janeiro, 6.4% in Bahia, 2.3% in Pernambuco, 1.9% in Minas Gerais, 0.4% in Espírito Santo and 0.7% in the Northeast region.
According to data from the IBGE, the cumulative industrial output, year-to-date, is at 7.1%, and 4.5% in the last 12 months.
