Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production in Brazil increased in nine out of 14 areas surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in June from May, although the nationwide median remained flat. Output increased the most in Rio de Janeiro (3.1%), Amazonas (2.8%), Pernambuco (1.7%) and Minas Gerais (1.6%).
Production also increased in São Paulo (0.8%), Paraná (0.5%), Espírito Santo (0.1%), Ceará (0.1%) and Goiás (0.1%). Industry output declined in Bahia (-10%), the Northeast (-4%), Rio Grande do Sul (-1.1%), Pará (-0.4%) and Santa Catarina (-0.1%).
