São Paulo – Last Tuesday (26th), the exhibition "Islam: Art and Civilization" opened at Bank of Brazil Cultural Centre. It has featured in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The exhibition will remain open up until July 3rd and comprises over 300 works reminiscent of Muslim art and history.
Items on display range from goldsmithery items to furniture, tapestry, garments, mosaics, paintings, calligraphy and musical instruments, among others, from countries such as Syria, Iran, Morocco, Libya and others. Items from the Library and Centre of South American and Arab Research (BibliASPA) are also featured.
At the Bank of Brazil Cultural Centre, the items take up three different areas, namely galleries one and two and the central space. At the entrance, a timeline of the exhibition is on display. The exhibition is curated by Paulo Daniel Farah and Rodolfo de Athayde. The exhibition may be visited from Tuesdays to Sundays from 09:00 am to 09:00 pm. Admittance is free.
