São Paulo – Jordan saw its trade deficit shrink by 10% in the first nine months of 2016 from the year-ago period, despite a 4% drop in exports, to JOD 3.9 billion (USD 5.5 billion). The numbers are from the national Statistics Department and were made public by the country’s news outlet Petra.
The narrower deficit was due to the fact that imports eased at an even higher rate, to JOD 10 billion (USD 14.1 billion), down 8.1% from January through September 2015.
