São Paulo – Company Krona Tubos e Conexões, based in Joinville, Santa Catarina is looking to increase its exports, especially to Algeria. It has been shipping its flagship products – cold water pipes and fittings for buildings – to the Arab country since 2016.
Algeria is one of the countries Krona exports the most product to, since its regulations and specifications for pipes and fittings are the same as Brazil’s. The company’s exports specialist Cibele Campos said it is crucial to look into regulations and requirements for pipes in each country before endeavoring to export. “Molds are very costly, so right now we are looking for Latin American and Arab markets compatible whose measurements match ours,” she said.
“We know that requirements in Egypt, for instance, are the same as in Brazil, so we intend to start selling to them too. That’s why we’ve become members of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, because we wish to expand in Algeria, which is also compatible, and to find out what other Arab countries are compatible,” Campos said while visiting the Arab Chamber to attend a building industry event this Wednesday (1).
“In this lecture we learned that Algeria could potentially buy more product, because major housing projects are underway there,” she explained. Besides Algeria, Krona ships product to Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Angola.
Krona makes PVC pipes and fittings for cold and hot water, sewage, electric items and accessories. The company started out selling PVC pipes 25 years ago. Krona is the third biggest-selling player in its industry in Brazil. It ranks among the eight leading wholesalers in the country, and makes 5,000 tons’ worth of PVC each month. It saw BRL 600 million in revenue in 2017.
