São Paulo – This Thursday (13th), the Brazilian aircraft manufacturing company Embraer has released a communiqué in which it forecasts that demand for 70- to 130-seater jet aircraft in Latin America is set to nearly triple in the next 20 years.
According to the company, whose E-jet family meets the passenger capacity, 750 of its jets with up to 130 seats will be operating in Latin America. Presently, 280 aircrafts in this capacity range are flying in the region.
According to Embraer, 700 new aircraft will be needed by 2033, a figure equivalent to 11% of expected global demand during the period. Of these new units, 37% will replace older aircraft and 63% will meet new demand.
According to the communiqué, the region comprises low-density markets, and traffic in 80% of them does not exceed 300 passengers per day.
The company’s forecasts are based on regional economic data. In the communiqué, Embraer states that in the next 20 years, the region should see average growth of 3.8% due to a favourable external environment, political stability and more even income distribution. Per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) should be up 2.9% per annum and the aircraft market should continue growing at an annual rate of 7% for the next 20 years.
